Successful co-parenting consultation

Separation and divorce often make a difficult and painful time for parents. But it is much more difficult for a child, as they watch the conflict between the two people they love most in the world.

Our consultancy is run by qualified professionals (mediators, social workers and therapists) who are able to help you understand what your child may be thinking and feeling as they experience their parents separating or getting divorced.

We will explore what a child needs from their parents, and also some of the conflicts and difficulties which parents feel at this time.

The co-parenting consultation is a private meeting ,usually between you, your ex-partner and the professional. We can of course ,work with a solo parent to provide specialist support and guidance to manage conflict with an ex-partner, help them to understand what may be going on for their child, and consider possible solutions.

The consultation is usually based on three to five sessions, during which we meet you and your ex-partner separately and then together.

Successful co-parenting consultation will:

Help you to build a better parenting partnership. By finding the steps necessary to help your child bridge this transitional period in their life, they can maintain a close and loving bond with you.

Consider the many ways your child is affected by separation and divorce, and the ways you can reduce these negative effects on your child.

Enable you to have a better understanding of what may be happening for your child.

Explore ways to focus on your child’s needs.

Give you the opportunity to think of, and put into practice better ways to communicate with your ex-partner.

Signpost you to help that will support you and your child, and reduce the likelihood of court involvement.

Provide a voluntary, non-judgemental and supportive session where we look at general and common situations that will help you to apply them to your specific circumstances.

Provide customised support that will help both you and help your child to understand and cope with the changing shape of your family.

Work with you to reduce current and future family conflict and misunderstanding. This is aimed at keeping you out of the Family Court and laying the foundations for future collaborative parenting .

Equip you to make good parenting plans for your child, often without further professional involvement.

Parenting plan

Parents completing the consultation are able to have a free, one- hour meeting with the mediator to help draw up a parenting plan.

A parenting plan is a written plan developed by parents and, sometimes, other family members. It looks at time-sharing and decision-making responsibilities for your child, such as where they will live, and arrangements for their holidays and schooling.

Co-parenting sessions can be facilitated face to face, or by Zoom or Skype.

Fees:

Individual session £ 180 per person

Joint session £ 150 per person
